Zulu Watch Straps UK

What is a Zulu Watch Strap?

Zulu watch straps are a type of nylon watch strap, offering a thicker alternative to NATO straps. They typically feature stainless steel rings and a buckle, adding to their rugged appeal.

Whether you're hiking, diving, or just looking for a sturdy everyday option, a Zulu strap ensures your watch stays firmly in place while offering a distinctive, military-inspired look. Sometimes, the design of a zulu strap with its rings and buckles is also combined with leather to create a zulu leather strap.

How Thick is a Zulu Strap?

Typically, a zulu strap is around 1.2 to 1.5 millimetres thick. This thickness ensures the strap is sturdy enough to withstand harsh conditions while still being comfortable on your wrist. The thick, high-quality nylon material adds to the strap's resilience, making it a reliable choice for any adventure.

Zulu Watch Strap VS NATO

Zulu straps typically have a more substantial appearance whereas NATO straps are sleeker. Let’s go into the details of this:

  • Both are made from durable nylon, but zulu straps are typically thicker, often around 1.2 to 1.5 millimetres, giving them a more rugged feel.
  • Zulu straps also feature rounded stainless steel hardware, which is chunkier and adds to their sturdy appearance.
  • NATO straps are slightly thinner and have more streamlined hardware. They usually come with additional fabric under the watch case, providing an extra layer of security in case the spring bars break. This makes them a favourite for military use, where reliability is crucial.
  • The two can also be combined to create a watch that has the features of both.
