Horween Shell Cordovan is renowned worldwide for its deep, natural shine, exceptional durability and unique aging characteristics. It's not just a special leather, it's a premium one – unlike standard cowhide, it's cut from the dense fibrous 'shell' that lies just under the hide of the horse rump. And then there's the way it's tanned... a traditional process that can take up to six months to complete, involving slow vegetable tanning, hot-stuffing with natural oils & waxes, hand dyeing & a whole lot of careful finishing. This labour-intensive approach produces a leather that's seriously smooth, glossy, highly resistant to creasing, and develops an amazing, reflective patina over time.
